Alright, one more short blog today and I should be caught up. On a beautiful Saturday morning in the Burg, I ran my first-ever 5K (roughly 3.2 miles) in 26:50. Granted, it's not a record-setting time but it felt pretty good, considering that: A.) I'd never run a 5K before, and 2.) I couldn't walk five months ago.
This morning's 5K was the 4th Annual Ali's Run, in honor of Ali Kaplan, the late daughter of Rob Kaplan, the Career Services dean at the law school. Ali died in 1997 at age 12 of aplastic anemia. Registration fees for the race go toward the W&M Bone Marrow Drive.
The race was ridiculously hilly, but it felt great crossing the finish line.

What a great tribute to Ali - we appreciate all you do to support raising awareness for aplastic anemia and other bone marrow failure diseases, as well as raising funds for support and treatment. Hope people will learn more about the answers, support and hope offered for people with these disesases at www.aamds.org.
Bravo to the W&M Bone Marrow Drive for getting more folks signed onto the bone marrow registry which increases the possibility for a match when someone is faced with this treatment of last resort for such a devastating illness as aplastic anemia. We look forward to celebrating Ali's life at the Play for Life Golf Tournament. Keep up the great work, and thanks so much for caring.
